Michael Reagan, the eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan and a longtime conservative commentator, died on Sunday, Jan. 4, at age 80 in Los Angeles while surrounded by family.
His death was announced Tuesday, Jan. 6, by his family and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, which called him a "steadfast guardian of his father’s legacy." Family members said he died after a battle with cancer.

The 43-year-old prosecutor suffered "sudden unexpected death in epilepsy," The Virginian-Pilot reports, citing the State Medical Examiner's Office.
