Tragedy In The Poconos: LI Boy, 12, Killed In Rafting Accident On School Trip
A 12-year-old Long Island boy was killed in a rafting accident on a school trip to the Poconos in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, May 27.
Cesar Albarracin Guncay, a sixth-grader in Sag Harbor Union Free School District, was one of five people on a raft in the Lehigh River when it turned over, Newsday reported. The other four were rescued safely, authorities said.
Albarracin Guncay was pulled from the water and taken to a nearby park, Marvin Gardens, where he was pronounced dead, officials told Newsday. His autopsy was scheduled for Thursday, May 28.
