An off-duty New Jersey police chief is being credited with saving a woman’s life after she became trapped underwater in the Delaware River last month, authorities said. Lebanon Township Police Chief Jason Cronce was nearby on Sunday, Aug. 17, when he saw a woman in distress in the river, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson said. Officials have identified the body found in the Delaware River last month as a 36-year-old Pennsylvania man. Bones belonging to an unidentified adult were found near the Delaware River in Philadelphia on Sunday, Nov. 3, police said.
