Brandon Ross Holbrook was convicted by a jury following an eight-day trial of his role in the brutal murder of Shymanski, who prosecutors described as "a prominent Washington, DC, photographer and businessman."
According to the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office, Holbrook shot Shymanski on Sept. 3, 2023, in the driveway of Shymanski’s Huntingtown home.
He then took the body back to his house in Reedsville, Pennsylvania, where he dismembered and burned it.
Investigators recovered Shymanski’s remains and identified Holbrook’s vehicle on surveillance video in the area at the time of the killing, they said.
Forensic evidence later linked him to the dismemberment and disposal of the body, officials said.
Holbrook is scheduled to be sentenced on July 18, when prosecutors say they will be seeking life without the possibility of parole.
