The National Weather Service said a historic, dangerous heat wave and humid air mass will fuel scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms across the Northeast from Friday, July 3, through Monday, July 6.
Storms are expected to develop during the hottest parts of the day, generally from noon to 9 p.m. Friday and on Independence Day, Saturday, July 4. The main threats are heavy downpours, damaging winds, and lightning, especially for outdoor events and fireworks.
