Trooper Among 3 Seriously Hurt After Driver Fails To Yield On Route 283: PA State Police Three people, including a Pennsylvania State Police trooper, were seriously injured when a Volkswagen Passat crashed into a marked police cruiser on Route 283 in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County, police announced on Sunday, Jan. 26. The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. near mile marker 5.9 on Route 283 East, according to a release by Pennsylvania State Police. A trooper was investigating a prior crash involving a disabled vehicle in the left lane and had positioned their Ford Explorer partially in the left lane and shoulder with emergency lights activated. Crash Blocking Part Of Rt 30 In Lancaster: PennDOT A multi-vehicle crash has caused delays on Route 30 in Lancaster County on Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  The crash happened in the westbound lanes just before the Route 283/Harrisburg/Lancaster exit in Manheim Township around 9:34 a.m. Traffic backed up in the area as emergency vehicles remained on the scene.  There is no word of any injuries at the time of reporting.

Car Carrier Catches Fire On Rt 283 In Central PA (Photo) A car carrier caught fire on Route 283 on Monday morning, Sept. 30, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The call to fire came into the Dauphin County Department of Public Safety at 8:03 a.m. Fire crews responded to a tractor fire on Route 283 East at the Middletown Road Exit in Dauphin County Monday morning. There was a lane restriction in the area. The tractor of the car carry was hollowed out by the fire, as seen in PennDOT's 511PA traffic cameras.  No injuries have been reported at the time of publishing.

The woman had been a passenger in a 2025 BMW X5 driving West on Route 283 when it struck the rear of "a 53' Wabash reefer style trailer being pulled by a Freightliner Truck Tractor that was also traveling West," the police said. Second Tractor-Trailer Crash On PA Turnpike Interchange To Rt 283: PennDOT Yet another tractor-trailer rolled over on the interchange of Route 283 with the PA Turnpike on Thursday, Aug. 22, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The second tractor-trailer overturned on the ramp from Rt 283 West to the PA Turnpike/Interstate 76 South near the exit to the Harrisburg International Airport in Lower Swatara Township.
