Nathaniel Tyree Curtis, 30, was taken into custody by the Kennett Square Police Department on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, after being transported from Philadelphia to Chester County Prison. The arrest followed an investigation into an attempted fraudulent deposit that targeted Kennett Square Borough’s financial accounts, police said. Big Lots To Close 5 More Pennsylvania Stores Things have gotten worse for the discount retailer Big Lots.  The national chain was previously set to close approximately 300 stores, then they decided to close 40 more, but following a new filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission on Friday, Oct. 4,  the impending closure of another 150 stores nationwide has been announced. Victim Stabbed During Knifepoint Robbery In Kennett Square: Police One man was slashed in the face and stabbed in the stomach during a Kennett Square mugging, according to police.  Authorities said the robbery happened around 9:30 p.m. on June 21.  Manuel Ordonez-Chitic approached the victim near West South Street and Union Street, brandished a knife, and stole his wallet and phone, police said.  He then attacked the victim with the knife, according to investigators.  Ordonez-Chitic, 33, was found hiding in the brush near the railroad track and taken into custody. Off-Duty PA Trooper Pleads Guilty To Firing Gun During Road Rage Incident: DA A state police officer received two years of probation after pleading guilty in connection with a 2022 road rage incident in Chester County, according to the District Attorney's Office.  David Levy of Kennett Square will also be required to take an anger management class, prosecutors said in a release.  Authorities said Levy was off-duty and driving on Route 1 near Longwood Gardens on Dec. 28, 2022.
