21-Year-Ol ID'd As Rt 22 Fatal Crash Victim: Lower Paxton Police

The man who was killed in a crash that closed Route 22 in both directions, has been identified.

Michael Butchko, 21, of Lower Paxton Township, was taken to an area hospital from the scene with "severe injuries" and pronounced dead on Tuesday, Oct. 8, LPT Bureau of Police wrote in an updated release. 

The deadly crash involved a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle on Allentown Boulevard/Rt 22 West at South Arlene Street at 7:47 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler told Daily Voice. The police later confirmed that, noting the passenger vehicle was a pick-up truck.  

The crash prompted a closure of Rt 22 in both directions between Mountain and Blue Ribbon roads in Lower Paxton Township. 

The roadway was estimated to reopen at 11:45 pm. according to PennDOT's 511PA, but it fully reopened around 1 a.m.

Michael was a Harrisburg native and Central Dauphin High School graduate, according to his social media.
