Independence Day violence continues to haunt Harrisburg, leading to the cancelation of the drone and firework show at Kipona, Mayor Wanda Williams announced on Wednesday, July 24. The cancelation is due to "serious incidents during the fireworks displays at two of the last three July 4th shows," Mayor Williams said. Three Arrested Amid Fireworks Show In Harrisburg: Officials
Three people were taken into custody and the fireworks show was called off during July 4 celebrations in Harrisburg, city officials said in a release. On three separate occasions during the show at Riverfront Park, police said they "noticed what they believed were weapons being carried in the crowd of people," said Mayor Wanda R.D. Car Burglars Blow Up Boat: Pennsylvania State Police
Serial thieves have been exploding mailboxes – and a boat, according to a release by the Pennsylvania State Police. The same group of people who were breaking into cars in Loganville Borough and Springfield Township are now believed to be blowing up other people's property using fireworks, according to PSP, Troop J, York Criminal Investigation Unit. House Fire Caused By Fireworks Ruled Arson, Say State Police In York County
A house fire in York County has been ruled an arson after fireworks were found at the scene, according to State Police. Fire crews were called to an abandoned home in the 15000 block of Thompson Road just before 10 p.m., say police. Fireworks were found next to the home. A Mechanicsburg man is facing a weapons of mass destruction charge after a failed attempt to make fireworks, say police. Johnathan Park, 33, was arrested after he attempted to make fireworks on his bed in his apartment in 500 block of Geneva Drive, according to police.
