Schuylkill County Man Faces Federal Meth Trafficking Charges
Federal prosecutors have accused a Schuylkill Haven resident of selling methamphetamine. John Kyle Smith, 40, is charged with possession with intent to distribute, said the US Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Prosecutors said the charges stem from an incident on Feb. 29. If convicted, Smith could face up to 20 years in prison plus a period of supervised release and a fine, according to officials. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the state Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics Investigations.

PA Woman, 83, Dies In Rollover Crash On Route 61: Coroner
An 83-year-old woman is dead following a rollover car accident in Schuylkill County on Thursday, Aug. 3, according to authorities. Ann Marie Zeall of Amity Township was a passenger in a car that veered off Route 61 in West Brunswick around 1:30 p.m., said the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. The car hit some trees before rolling over, officials said. Zeall was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest where she died from multiple traumatic injuries around 5:30 p.m., the coroner said. A man is wanted by police for smashing up a McDonalds’ after he was denied free food, according to a release by Pennsylvania state police. The man approached the drive-through window on foot and demanded free food from through the electronic menu microphone, at the McDonald’s located at 981 East Main Street in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill County, on Feb. 2 around 11 p.m., according to the release. A 5-year-old boy drowned after he and his brother became trapped in a frozen Pennsylvania pond on Wednesday, Feb. 9, according to a release by Pennsylvania state police. Schuylkill 911 and Pennsylvania State Police in Schuylkill Haven were called to a report of two young boys who had fallen in a frozen pond in the 40 block of Molino Road in Orwigsburg — West Brunswick Township, just after 5:30 p.m., the police write in the release. Police: Berks Driver Yelling Racial Slurs Arrested For Striking Woman, Almost Hitting Officers
A Berks County driver is in police custody after he knocked a woman down, and almost struck officers over the weekend, authorities said. Police responded to the 1100 block of Bern Road Saturday on reports of a man -- later identified as Jason S. Smith, 46,-- allegedly yelling racial slurs and refusing to leave the premises, according to Wyomissing police. Smith then fled the scene in a black convertible Mercedes Benz, police said.
