Two More Arrested In Connection With Philadelphia Officer's Killing
US Marshals have arrested two more suspects in connection with the killing of Philadelphia policeman Richard Mendez. Alexander Batista-Polanco of Camden and Hendrick Peña-Fernandez of Pennsauken, both 21, were arrested in New Jersey early Wednesday, Oct. 18, authorities told Daily Voice. A car fire on a New Jersey roadway has been linked to the shooting of two Philadelphia police officers that left one dead on Thursday evening, Oct. 12, authorities said. Two Philadelphia police officers were shot — one fatally — while in the parking garage at the Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday night. Officer Richard Mendez, a 50-year-old with 22 years in the department, was hit multiple times and died from his wounds, PPD brass said at a Friday evening press conference.
