Police in Abington say they caught the man who robbed two township banks within days. Dennis Wilson of Philadelphia is charged with felony robbery and related counts, court records show. Authorities believe Wilson walked into the PNC Bank at 808 Old York Road on Thursday, April 18, and demanded money with a handwritten note. He fled with an undisclosed sum of cash, police said. Abington Bank Robbers Slam Into Police Car During Getaway, Authorities Say
A brief pursuit of two accused thieves ended when they crashed their getaway car into an Abington police cruiser on Tuesday, Jan. 9, according to officials. It began when the suspects robbed a bank on the 1300 block of Old York Road around 3:30 p.m., Abington police wrote in a release. A short time later, officers near the corner of Meetinghouse and Fox Chase roads spotted a car matching the suspect vehicle's description, authorities said. Elderly Pedestrian Killed By Car Outside Abington Hospital: Police
An elderly woman is dead after being struck by a car in front of Jefferson Abington Hospital on early Friday, according to authorities. Police were called to the intersection of Old York and Woodland roads just before 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 23, officials said in a press release. They arrived to find the woman lying in the road with serious injuries, police said. She was declared dead at the scene moments later, and her identity has not yet been released.
