9-County Retail Theft Ring Busted: PA Attorney General
Five people involved in a major organized retail theft operation have been charged with targeting stores across nine counties, authorities said.
Marlin Polanco, Malik McDonald, Cartier Hardy, Homario Oldacre, and Lorenzo Walters were charged in Dauphin County with corrupt organizations, organized retail theft, and related crimes, Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry said on Monday, Aug. 26.
The total value of stolen goods is estimated to be worth more than $71,000, Henry said.

US Marshals Capture NJ Train Station Murder Suspect In PA, Prosecutor Says
A 44-year-old Plainfield man was arrested in Pennsylvania on Friday, May 10 and charged with a fatal stabbing at a train station in July 2023, authorities said.
At 2 p.m. on July 6, 2023, police responded to the Plainfield train station and found Juquin Smith, 45, suffering from stab wounds, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel and Plainfield Police Director James T. Abney said. Smith was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Dozens Nabbed In PA Child Porn Sting, 'Operation Safe Screen': State Police
Twenty-six Pennsylvanians face criminal charges after state police wrapped up a months-long investigation on child sex abuse imagery.
"Operation: Safe Screen," said troopers in a release on Tuesday, July 18, involved chatting with suspect predators online, locating possessors of child pornography, and tracking down registered offenders who have fallen out of compliance.
The operation ran from April through June and led to the arrests of 22 adults and four juveniles in twelve counties, state police said.

One Pennsylvania resident won big at a Northumberland County convenience store this week, officials say.
A shopper at the MM Food Mart, 16 Elysburg Road in Riverside, won $150,000 (before taxes) playing a Powerball ticket on Monday, Oct. 31, according to state lottery officials.
The player matched four of five white balls drawn as well as the red ball, officials said. They also played with the $1 Power Play option, which tripled the size of their reward from $50,000 to $150,000, lottery representatives explained.

PA Lottery: More Than $248 Million In Scratch-Off Prizes Sold At These Pennsylvania Stores
Pennsylvania Lottery Scratch-Off winners claimed more than $248.8 million in prizes during January, including two top prizes worth $3 million.
Eight top prizes of $1 million were claimed by players from Northumberland County, Westmoreland County, Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey.
Some retailers earned a $10,000 bonus for selling the $3 million-winning tickets and others a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning Scratch-Off tickets worth $1 million.
