Starbucks Workers Strike Over 'Threats And Intimidation' In Philly
Workers at five Starbucks stores in Philadelphia demonstrated Sunday, July 23 in protest of what they call the company's "illegal union-busting campaign." "We are taking collective action in response to the company's interference with protected activity when (Store Manager) David Vaughan threatened and intimidated striking workers during a protected strike," said Starbucks Workers United, a labor union representing over 8,000 employees at more than 335 stores, according to its website. PA Lawmaker Proposes 32-Hour, 4-Day Workweek
Is your whole weekend spent recharging for the workweek? Does "hump day" seem to never come soon enough? Then new legislation proposed by a Pennsylvania lawmaker is right up your alley. State Rep. Chris Rabb, a Philadelphia Democrat, hasn't formally introduced his bill yet, but he's calling for a four-day, 32-hour work week.
