Fraudster Contractor Arrested In Bucks County, Authorities Say
A fraudster has been arrested in Bucks County after police said he scammed a client out of money.
Walter Charles Porter Jr. accepted a payment for hardscape work in April 2021 under "Walts Outdoor Living Spaces," Bedminster police said.
As of April 2024, Porter never completed the work, nor did he provide, materials or a refund to the victims when asked multiple times over the years, police said.

PA Contractor Ripped Off $86K From Clients, AG Says
A contractor in Pennsylvania has been charged after he accepted deposits to build elevators in six residents' homes but never did any of the work, authorities said.
Michael Bloom, of Williamsport, agreed to the projects, which totaled $86,110, AG Josh Shapiro said. He provided little or no services in return and refused to give his customers refunds.
Five of the homeowners left in the lurch by Bloom were over 60 years old, the AG said.

A Pennsylvania pool shop owner accused of scamming dozens of clients out of thousands of dollars is facing additional fraud and theft charges, authorities announced Wednesday.
Bethlehem resident Roger Kornfeind, who owns Hydro Dynamic Pools, was initially charged in January with 26 counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, as well as 23 counts of home improvement fraud, DailyVoice.com previously reported.

West Whiteland PD Searching For Contractor Accused Of Scamming Victim Of $10,500
West Whiteland police are searching for a contractor who they say failed to complete $10,500 of home improvement work.
A township resident told police that they hired George M. Brinton, 55, to complete work on their home on Dec. 1, 2020, Det. Scott Pezick told Daily Voice.
Brinton was paid a series of eight checks for the project, totaling $25,845, but has yet to complete $10,500 of work since Jan. 31, 2021, Pezick said.
The victim has been unable to reach Brinton for two weeks, to which she reported to police, Pezick said.

No-Show Montgomery County Contractor Facing Criminal Charges, Police Say
A Montgomery County contractor is facing multiple charges after he was paid to complete home improvement work and never showed, authorities said.
David Gofus, 32, provided two estimates under the business name of Doc Gofus Renovations in August 2019, then never showed up to complete the work, Plymouth Township police said.
He also stole the homeowner's shutters and hardware, police said.
Gofus, who runs under the business name of Doc Gofus Renovations, has yet to return them even after he was initially contacted by police on April 10, 2020.
