A lovers' spat led police in Pennsylvania to a Delaware mom wanted as a fugitive from justice in New Jersey, authorities said Wednesday, Nov. 27. Three Philadelphia men were indicted after two women were shot in the head in Atlantic City, including one who died, authorities said. A fugitive wanted in the Philadelphia area for more than five years was caught in Atlantic County, authorities said. Nyieem Ruff, 44, of Philadelphia, was arrested on Saturday, Mar. 23, the Brigantine Police Department said in a news release on Tuesday, Apr. 2. While one of the escaped inmates from Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center remains on the run, police have arrested a second suspected accomplice in connection with the breakout. A motor vehicle stop in Atlantic City resulted in the arrest of a man wanted in Pennsylvania and the recovery of a handgun and drugs, authorities said. PA Mom Tried Covering For Daughter Who Led Police Pursuit, Authorities Say
A Pennsylvania mom took the blame for her daughter who led a brief police pursuit to avoid having her arrested, authorities said. A Susquehanna police officer tried stopping a vehicle when the driver lost control of the vehicle while fleeing, and then took off running on foot around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 25, local authorities said. The driver was not immediately located, but her mom was identified as Tammy Jones and claimed to have been driving the vehicle "to avoid having her daughter arrested," police said. Jones was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension, authorities said.
