A New Jersey man who authorities say faced "numerous financial stressors" is accused of setting fire to his Chester County automotive business to reap the insurance payout, says District Attorney Deb Ryan.
Giuseppe Deangelis, 45, of Ventnor City, is charged with arson, insurance fraud, reckless endangerment, and other counts related to the fire that destroyed his J&G Automotive in Kennett Square in 2021, prosecutors said.

A Chester County man faces multiple felony charges related to an alleged car-theft spree that ended with a police officer getting hit in the face, authorities claim.
It happened on the 100 block of West Gay Street early on Saturday, April 8, said police in a release. Michael G. Anderson, 33, of West Chester, was driving along the block when he cut off another motorist and used his vehicle to block the street, the department said.

Man Fatally Runs Over Passenger, Hits Police Chief With Car In Violent Chester County Pursuit
A 57-year-old man threw his passenger from his car and fatally ran her over, then struck a police officer with his vehicle in an attempt to again run from the law, authorities in Chester County said.
John Lewish Knecht, Jr., was found hiding in a crawl space of a Berks County home, and taken into custody, the Chester County DA's Office said. Meanwhile, his passenger, Brandie Beiseigel, died at a local hospital, authorities said.
