Trio Arrested With Guns After Shots Fired From Atlantic City Hotel Balcony: Police Two men and a woman were accused of firing gunshots from the balcony of a hotel near the beachfront in Atlantic City, authorities said. In a news release on Tuesday, May 7, Atlantic City police said 42-year-old Corey Brown of Chesapeake, VA, 43-year-old Malik Dean of Philadelphia, and 41-year-old Zara Griffiths of Paoli, PA, were arrested on Saturday, May 5. Penn State Alumna, Preschool Teacher, Grad Student Killed By Rare Brain Disease A 30-year-old former preschool teacher in her final year of graduate school has died of a rare brain disease possibly caused by a severe autoimmune disease, her family says.  Jennafer Alayna-Lee Palmer, a Harrisburg native, passed away at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center on Friday, Jan. 19, according to her obituary.  "She had Encephalitis, which is the swelling of the brain," her sister Jhayda Washington wrote on a GoFundMe fundraising campaign page launched to cover her final expenses. Jhayda noted that Jennafer had been suffering from a terrible case of rheumatoid arthritis.  …

Police used tactical force to enter the Battlefield Boulevard Walmart at Sam's Circle on reports of an "active shooter" at 10:12 p.m., and found multiple bodies, a Chesapeake police spokesman told reporters. Authorities later confirmed seven victims, including the shooter, and one person near the entrance of the store.

Joshua Macias, 42, and Antonio LaMotta, 61 -- both of Chesapeake, VA -- were originally arrested on weapons offenses, although LaMotta's charge was dropped as he was licensed to carry in his home state.
