The National Weather Service has shifted its tornado watch across New Jersey and Pennsylvania as Hurricane Debby creeps in. In New Jersey, the tornado watch is in effect through 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 and covers Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties in North Jersey. In Pennsylvania, the tornado watch is issued in Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Monroe, and Bucks counties. A Pennsylvania man was airlifted to a hospital after a crash involving an ambulance heading to an emergency in Cape May County, authorities said. Middle Township police responded to the crash on Route 9 North at around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, the department said in a news release. A large indoor sports complex is coming to Cape May County, featuring year-round space for sports like soccer and lacrosse. The commission for the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) unanimously approved a resolution to enter a lease agreement with Aviation Sports Complex LLC. Young Pilot Killed In Cape May Plane Crash
A 22-year-old pilot was killed in a Cape May County plane crash early Saturday, July 16, authorities said. Thomas Gibson was the sole occupant of the single-engine Piper PA-12 that crashed into a field near Paramount Air Airport around 9:40 a.m., the FAA and Middle Township police said. The Ocean City resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
