The theft happened around 5 a.m. at the Jems Jewels and Gold store in the Shoppes at English Village, 1460 Bethlehem Pike, officials said in a release.

"During that incident, an employee encountered a suspect in the store unlawfully and a gun was discharged," Horsham police said.

Officers arrived to find the shot suspect and took them to the hospital. Their injuries were described as "non-life-threatening."

An unknown number of suspects fled the scene and are still sought, authorities said. Multiple stores in the plaza were "affected by the burglars' actions and could not open for business," according to police.

An investigation is ongoing and police said there is "no danger to the public at this time."
