An affidavit alleges that Ian Cleary, 28, of Saratoga, California, stalked Shannon Keeler at a party in December 2013, and followed her to her dorm, where he sexually assaulted her, according to the Associated Press.

Keeler, a lacrosse player from Moorestown, spent years trying to get prosecutors to investigate the 2013 rape case, collecting evidence over time.

Things came to a head last year when she got an unexpected Facebook message that read: "So I raped you."

Keeler on Tuesday told her story to the Associated Press, prompting a new team of law enforcement agents to charge Cleary in the 2013 case.
