It happened around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, the department wrote in a release. The pair walked into a shop on the 8200 block of West Venango Street where one of them smashed through a security door with an ax, police said.
The incident was caught on the store's security camera and police have released the footage.
After they made their way to the back, they demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint, police said. The men got away with $750 in cash and two cartons of cigarettes, according to investigators.
They fled on foot and were last seen heading south on 9th Street, authorities added.
Anyone who can identify the men is asked to call or text PPD at 215-686-8477 or submit an anonymous tip on the department's website.
