PSP Investigated 580 Crashes, Wrote 24,865 Tickets Over Labor Day Weekend Pennsylvania State Police investigated 580 crashes over the four-day Labor Day weekend. From Friday, Aug. 30 to Monday, Sept. 2, those crashes resulted in 170 injuries and six deaths. Those totals were lower than the 671 crashes last Labor Day that resulted in 220 injuries and 10 deaths. Impaired driving was a factor in 65 of this year's crashes, three of which were fatal. Local Gov't Trash Hauler Charged After Speeding Into Guide Rail: PA State Police A local government trash hauler was involved in a crash in which speeding was a factor, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Lanchei A. Williams, 45, of Philadelphia, crashed into a guardrail along the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway in Tinicum Township, Delaware County at about 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Williams suffered minor injuries and was taken to Taylor Hospital, police said. Pedestrian Struck Near Cemetery In Lititz, Police Say Directly across from a cemetery, someone was struck by a vehicle, Lititz police announced on Sunday, July 7.  The crash happened at the intersection of South Broad Street/PA Route 501 and East Third Avenue around 2:16 p.m. on June 27, Lititz Borough of Police detailed in the release.  The driver was "attempting to turn left onto South Broad Street from East Third Avenue [and] failed to yield to the right-of-way of a pedestrian crossing the street in the crosswalk," the police stated in the release.
