A fugitive who applied for a job with the Hudson County Sheriff's Office thought she was going in for an interview. Instead, she was placed under arrest, authoritie said. Zyeama Y. Armed Man Shot Dead By State Police In Eastern PA
An armed man was shot dead by state police on Thursday, Sept. 8 in Monroe County, authorities said. An unidentified 36-year-old man was fatally shot while troopers were completing a welfare check at a home on Deer Drive North in Middle Smithfield Township around 10 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police said. Troopers tried to get in contact with the man, but he refused to open the door, they said. He then unexpectedly fled out of the house through the back door, carrying a rifle, police said. 1 Dead In Poconos Area House Fire: Police
One person died when a house went up in flames in Monroe County early Wednesday, Aug. 17, authorities said. The unidentified victim was trapped and died inside the home on Hill Road in Chestnuthill Township, Pennsylvania State Police said. Multiple area fire departments were called to the scene along with the county coroner. The cause remains under investigation by the Troop N Fern Ridge Criminal Investigation Unit along with the Troop N Fire Marshal. Additional details were not immediately known.

Pennsylvania's Michael Horvath on Friday, June 17 was found guilty in the 2013 murder of his co-worker, Holly Grim. Michael Horvath, 55, was convicted on charges of homicide, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse, but was acquitted of obstructing law enforcement. A woman and four children died in a house fire in Pennsylvania late on Thursday, authorities say. Emergency crews were called to a house in the 5100 block of Brook Road in Kunkletown, Polk Township just before 11:30 p.m., according to Emergency Management. UPDATE: A Pennsylvania man claimed he shot and killed a Paterson teen in the Poconos over an alleged $100 debt, authorities said after arresting him and an accused accomplice.
