A serious crash has shut down all southbound lanes of Route 222 between the Brownstown/Rothsville and Oregon Pike exits near Leola, authorities announced Friday, Dec. 13. Northbound traffic is restricted to one lane in the same area. The southbound lanes of Route 222 were closed at 2:12 p.m., according to 511PA. Traffic is being diverted at the Brownstown exit, with the roadway expected to remain closed until at least 4:15 p.m., authorities said. A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced for raping a girl for years, beginning when she was just 9-years-old, authorities announced on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024. Timothy Barker, 48, of Leola, has been sentenced to serve 25-50 years in a State Correctional Institution by Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker, the West Lampeter Township Police Department detailed in the updated release from the Lancaster County DA. Brandon Wegner, 19, Of Stevens, Killed In Motorcycle Crash
A 19-year-old motorcyclist has been identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash, the Lancaster County Coroner announced on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Brandon Michael Wenger, 19, of Stevens, was involved in a collision with a pickup truck on Route 322 in Earl Township on the evening of Oct. 8, according to the release. Wenger was taken to Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:38 p.m. on Oct. 9, according to the coroner. A 48-year-old woman died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that sent the vehicles into fields on opposite sides of the road, authorities explained on Monday, July 1. An Amish family's home was struck by a dump truck on Thursday morning, according to Lancaster County Wide Communications. The truck's cab's front right tire appears to have blown out based on photos shared by Daniel Stoltzfus who also witnessed the crash. The not-so-young 45-year-old Terri Young is wanted for endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault of a child less than the age of 13, according to Pennsylvania state police. Young was notified of the felony warrant for his arrest but refused to turn himself in, police say. Three women have been hospitalized and a horse has died after a car crash involving a horse drawn wagon and a car on Saturday, May 21, police say. A Lancaster County teenage boy has been missing for over a week, according to East Lampeter Township Police. Michael Jackson, 15, of East Lampeter Township was last seen by family members on Sept. 19. He had been dropped off at a friend's house on Old Philadelphia Pike and never returned home. Jackson is known to have friends in East Lampeter, Leola, Millersville, Manheim Township and Lancaster City. New Holland Borough police department is mourning the death of Officer Wendell Metzler, who died of cancer. He was 52 years old. Serving on the force for 20 years -- 25 part time for West Earl police -- Metzler lived a life full of service to his community.
