Potential Airbag, Seat Belt Failures Prompt Recall Of 80K+ Kia SUVs Kia is recalling more than 80,000 hybrid and electric SUVs due to wiring issues that could prevent airbags and seat belts from properly deploying, officials said. Kia issued the recall for about 80,255 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The recalled Niros are from the model years 2023 to 2025. The NHTSA said the recall is due to a defect in the floor wiring assembly beneath the front passenger seat. The issue could increase injury risks in a crash because airbags or seal belts may not work correctly. …

Fire Police Officer Struck While Directing Traffic, PA Police Say A fire police officer was struck by a passing car while directing traffic for a tow truck, according to Pennsylvania state police. Darryl L. Krom, 58, of Hanover, was hit by a Kia near the intersection of Hanover Pike and Pine Grove Road in Union Township on Sept. 23 just before 7 p.m., as stated in the police report. Krom was transported by Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services to Gettysburg Hospital, as the report stated. He was treated for a “suspected serious injury,” according to police. Todd Addison Jr., of Duncannon, died in a crash involving an SUV in Dickinson Township, Cumberland County on Saturday at 11:38 a.m. Addison, driving a Victory motorcycle, and his wife, Suzette Addison, who was driving a Yamaha motorcycle, were traveling southbound along Carlisle Road towards Pine Grove road just before the crash.
