On Wednesday, Aug. 14 a coroner was called to the area of search for a 10-year-old boy who went missing while kayaking in Yellow Breeches Creek – which became a recovery mission to retrieve his body on Monday, Aug. 12, the Fairview Township Fire Department announced. Rylan Trent Weiler of Manheim died while kayaking Hammond Lake in the Tioga-Hammond Lakes Recreation Area at approximately 8:17 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, the PA Fish and Boat Commission told Daily Voice. A 44-year-old kayaker was found dead in Swatara Creek, the Dauphin County Coroner's Office confirmed Friday morning. Memorial services have been scheduled to honor the life of a Westchester County man who died after a powerful Nor'easter rolled in while he was kayaking on the Long Island Sound. Laurence Broderick, age 45, of Scarsdale, was reported overdue by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 26, after he left Hempstead en route to Mamamronek in his kayak at about 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, authorities reported. Kayaker Rescued While Drift Towards Dam In Lancaster County
A kayaker was rescued after his boat overturned and he could not safely reboard on Saturday morning, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police. NLCRPD patrols were dispatched to a water rescue in the Middle Creek Waterfowl Refuge Impoundment where the kayaker was reportedly drifting towards the dam. Fire and rescue units were dispatched along with the Pennsylvania Gam Commission Game Wardens, in addition to the NLCRPD patrols. The man was able to reach shore by clinging to another kayaker who towed him to the shoreline. No injuries reported.

Drown Kayaker ID'd By York County Coroner
Two Kayakers were rescued and one man drowned on Monday night in Muddy Creek, according to the York County coroner. John Beachey, 53, of the 11,000 block of Gum Tree Road, Brogue, accidentally drown around 11 p.m. Beachey had been kayaking with friends in the area of the Gorge near Peach Bottom Township at the time. No autopsy will be conducted.
