A driver was ejected from a tractor-trailer in a crash on Interstate 81 but miraculously escaped with minor injuries, fire officials said. The collision happened around 12:57 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, when a tractor-trailer rear-ended another at mile marker 117 northbound on I-81, according to a release from the Friendship Fire Company No. 1, Englewood. These 64 PA Big Lots Stores Are Among Nearly 1,000 Closing Nationwide: Here's When
Big Lots, the popular discount retailer, is officially going out of business. The company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September, has announced plans to close all 963 of its remaining stores nationwide, including the remaining 64 locations in Pennsylvania. Big Lots had 73 stores located in the Keystone State when they declared bankruptcy over the summer. A 42-year-old Schuylkill County man used social media to threaten FBI agents, authorities said. Joshua Frisch, of Frackville, was sentenced on Aug. 7, to time served (six months) and three years of supervised release by United States District Court Judge Julia K. Munley for one count of Influencing a Federal Official by Threat, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Schuylkill County Teen Missing, Possibly In Danger, State Police Say (

UPDATE: The subject of this report has been located safely, per state police. Troopers in Schuylkill County are asking for the public's help to locate a missing teen. Maryanne Snyder, 17, of Frackville, was last seen around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, near South Nice Street, state police said. She was wearing a black Reebok hoodie and a green dress, troopers said. Anyone with information is asked to call PSP Frackville at 570-874-5300. If spotted, call 911.

A US Navy veteran is dead after veering off Route 209 and striking a guardrail on Sunday, Aug. 13, officials say. The crash happened near the intersection with Tuscarora Mountain Drive in Schuylkill Township, Schuylkill County, around 9:30 a.m., said Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. Brian P. A teenager is dead and three others injured after a car accident on Route 924, authorities say. On Facebook, loved ones identified the victim as 18-year-old Jenna M. Sallade. A 22-year-old waitress from Frackville has been identified as the victim of a single-vehicle crash that shutters Interstate 81 in Lebanon County for three hours on Monday, Nov. 7, authorities say. Trina Marie Stoudt was driving a 2004 Honda Civic when she traveled off I-81 north near Exit 100 by the Lebanon-Schuylkill County line, according to state police.
