Mark Hackman Killed Himself In House Fire He Set: Coroner
The cause of death has been released for a man found dead after a "domestic incident" turned standoff ending with a house fire, the Lancaster County Coroner explained. Mark D. Hackman, 53, of 6294 High Street in East Petersburg Borough, died by a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, and the manner was suicide, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Eric Bieber. Two people were in custody and one person hospitalized after gunfire broke out during an arranged child custody exchange in Lancaster County, authorities said. Rashaun Taylor and Thalia Ortiz, both of Reading, were arrested shortly after police issued a Be On The Lookout "BOLO" alert Sunday night, the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department said. A Lancaster City driver was arrested weeks after leading police from several agencies on a pursuit that reached speeds of up to 90 miles per hour earlier this month, authorities said. West Earl officers were notified of a car traveling at a high rate of speed into Akron Borough, which Ephrata police were trying to stop around 12:20 p.m. March 3, WEPD said.
