Drought Conditions Declared In 35 PA Counties: State Environmental Officials
Drought conditions have been declared in 35 Pennsylvania counties as of Friday, Nov. 1, according to state environmental officials.
Thirty-three of those counties are under a Drought Watch while two others are under a Drought Warning, the state's Department of Environmental Protection said in a news release.

The youngest daughter of the nonprofit Caitlin Smiles founder, Abby Hornung, has died suddenly, her family announced in an obituary posted on the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home website.
Abigail "Abby" Caitlin Hornung, 22, of Dauphin "passed away unexpectedly" on Thursday, Sept. 3, as stated in her obituary.
Her older sister, and her middle namesake, notably died of a cancerous brain tumor at the age of seven in 2000— two years before Abby was born.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Much Of NJ, PA: Here's The Timing
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of New Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania.
The watch is in effect through 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 and applies to all of New Jersey.
In Pennsylvania, the watch covers Adams, Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Dauphin, Delaware, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill, Wayne, Wyoming, and York in Pennsylvania.

A convicted drug dealer with a history of escape and resisting arrest, escaped from his work release program, only to be recaptured five days later, authorities say.
Terance Brent, 37, of Jonestown, had last been seen on Friday, March 17, 2023, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

A dozen people have been charged for their roles in the operation of a methamphetamine trafficking organization which operated in Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Luzerne, Montour, Northampton, and Perry counties, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro.
