William Frank Bonanno Jr., 56, of Manheim, saw two people around his parked car outside his home in the 1600 block of Auction Road in Penn Township just before 1 a.m. on Friday, August 5, according to a release by Northern Lancaster County Regional police.
Armed with a firearm, he exited his home to investigate and found two people sitting inside a vehicle near his property, the release details.
He watched them exit the vehicle and walk towards a nearby apartment.
"Suspecting the occupants were involved in criminal activity," he confronted them and "a verbal altercation ensued," as stated in the release.
Claim that he "felt in danger for his life," he fired “warning shot” at the the direction of one of the subjects, he told the police.
Bonanno was arrested on charges of recklessly endangering another person and simple assault, according to the police.
The firearm involved was recovered.
