Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of North Mulberry Street at approximately 9:51 a.m. on Friday, April 4, for a reported shooting, according to Lancaster City police. Upon arrival, they found Williams suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was treated at the scene by EMS personnel before being transported to Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:47 a.m., the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office said. He had been found in a trauma bay when coroner investigators arrived shortly after 10:55 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Through their investigation, police identified David Pearce, 25, as the alleged shooter. Authorities said Pearce and Williams knew each other and described the case as an isolated incident. Pearce was arrested around 2 p.m. on Monday, April 14, and charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Recklessly Endangering Another Person, according to police.
Pearce has a prior criminal history. He pleaded guilty in 2019 to Felony Theft by Unlawful Taking – Movable Property, receiving a sentence of three to 23 months in jail followed by one year of probation. That same year, he also pleaded guilty to Misdemeanor Theft From a Motor Vehicle.
The 400 block of North Mulberry Street, which had been shut down for evidence collection, has since reopened to normal traffic.
Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to submit a tip.
