Arlene Pecheco Figueroa, 36, of the first book of Gay Street, Christiana, "seriously injured" in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 41 and Pine Creek Drive in Sadsbury Township at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, according to the Lancaster County Coroner's office.
Her SUV had collided with a flatbed truck, leaving her unresponsive in the driver's seat of her vehicle, Coroner Dr. Stephen G. Diamantoni explained in the release.
A coroner was called to the scene around 8:30 a.m., according to Lancaster County Wide Communications.
She was pronounced dead at 8:42 a.m., Diamantoni detailed.
A "physical assessment at the scene by the coroner investigator revealed trauma," according to the office's release, but Figueroa's official cause and manner of death are pending the results of an autopsy.
Figueroa's 16-year-old passenger was taken to Lancaster General Hospital shortly before 9 a.m. were he remains in critical condition, according to state police.
The driver of the truck was unharmed, authorities explained.
The roadway was "shut down for an extended period of time," Grothey said. The area affected by the road closure was just south of Route 30/Lincoln Highway. It reopened before 1 p.m.
The PSP Lancaster Patrol Unit and Troop J Forensic Service Unit are investigating.
