Firefighters rushed to EZ Car Plus on Pulaski Highway in Edgewood around 2:52 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, where they found flames ripping through the single-story building, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
It took 50 firefighters from the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company and surrounding departments about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, but the damage was done.
One employee was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The blaze, which started in the auto repair shop, gutted the dealership and repair facility, leaving behind millions in losses.
Investigators said the business had no smoke alarms, fire alarms, or sprinklers.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Officials are urging anyone with information about the fire to contact the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
