A woman was fatally struck by a falling tree while walking on the Saucon Rail Trail in Lower Saucon Township, authorities announced on Thursday, March 6. Police were called to the trail between Old Mill Road and Meadows Road around 12:17 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, for reports of a tree falling onto a pedestrian, the Lower Saucon Township Police Department said in a release. A 63-year-old Costa Rican woman died following a tragic ice-skating accident in Bethlehem, authorities announced on Monday, Dec. 30. Maria Luisa Jimenez was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m. at St. Luke's University Hospital, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Jimenez suffered a fatal closed head injury after falling backward and striking her head on the ice while skating, officials said. The manner of death has been ruled accidental.
