Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Struck by Car In Fredericksburg, Police Say A Fredericksburg man is fighting for his life after being struck by a car while crossing Fall Hill Avenue Monday evening, police said. Cesareo Jurado Coca, 50, was critically injured when he attempted to cross the eastbound travel lanes of the 3300 block of Fall Hill Avenue around 5:31 p.m., according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. Woman Killed In Temple Hills Hit-Run Crash; Police Seek White Work Van (Updated) New details have been released by the Prince George's County Police Department after a 37-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver over the weekend. Temple Hills resident Portia Newton has been identified by investigators as the person who was found in the roadway on Saturday night.
