Storm Downs Power Lines, Closes Roads In Lehigh, Northampton Counties (

Area police reported scattered outages as wind and rain pulled down power lines. Lower Saucon Township police reported that Lower Saucon Road was closed between Woodland Road and Woodland Hills Court due to a tree down on power wires. Upper Saucon Township police reported that Oakhurst Drive was closed between Stonesthrow Road and Old Bethlehem Pike due to utility lines across the roadway. The incidents were reported late morning on Friday, Aug. 9. Meanwhile, due to the severe weather, the Doylestown Township Administrative Offices closed at 2:30 p.m.

A man who has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia disorder has disappeared, according to a Missing Endangered Person Alert issued by the Schuylkill Township Police Department announced on Tuesday evening, Aug. 6. A 25-year-old man was shot dead in Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 7, authorities said. At 1:23 p.m., Philadelphia Police responded for a person with a gun on the 1400 block of North 54th Street, in the 19th District. Police transported the victim, who had a gunshot wound to his back, to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injury at 1:51 p.m. The scene is being held, no weapon was recovered, and no arrest at this time. Downed trees and power lines had closed roads after the storm in Eastern Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Aug. 7, authorities said. The remnants of now Tropical Storm Debby will move north along the eastern U.S. through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Bucks County Man Faces Child Pornography Charges, Police Say
A 27-year-old Warrington man was arrested on child pornography charges last week, according to township police. Derrick A. Carthon is being held on a $250,000 bond, court records show. Authorities received six cyber tips from X.com, formerly known as Twitter, related to accounts associated with Carthon, police said. They searched his home on July 23 and seized multiple electronic devices before taking him into custody, according to officials. Carthon has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug 12.

Two men are sought in connection with a July 9 shooting in Muhlenberg, according to officials. The suspects were walking on the 2400 block of Kutztown Road when a car double parked beside them around 6:45 p.m., police said in a release on July 31. A man is in custody for firing a weapon in a Warrington home, township police said in a release on Monday, July 29. Safarie Xiong allegedly shot a gun in a residence on the 1200 Block of Palomino Drive on July 20, according to authorities. A man who was found dead in the Delaware River on Thursday, July 26 has been identified, Philadelphia police announced in an updated release the following morning. Darnell Dogan, 42, of the 4600 block of Ditman Street, was found near North Delaware and Linden avenues in Torresdale around 3:30 p.m., authorities wrote.
