As heavy rain moves out of Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service has extended flood watches and wind advisories for several Pennsylvania counties. What began on Tuesday is expected to continue, this means high wind speeds are expected to blow at 20 to 25 mph in the advisory zones. The stronger wind gusts could blow down tree limbs and some power lines. Scattered power outages are possible, according to NWS. Tracking Weekend Snow, Mid-Week Rain Storms Both Heading Toward Northeast
Parts of the region will be shoveling out of several inches of snow from the weekend when another strong storm system moves in, forecasters are saying. On Friday, Jan. 5, the National Weather Service released a new model showing between eight and 12 inches of snow in Sussex and Warren counties in New Jersey, and the Pocono mountains in PA (scroll for map). Pennsylvania residents were clearing away debris and assessing the damage on Tuesday, Aug. 8, after severe thunderstorms moved across the southeastern portion of the state last night. Damaging Wind Gusts That Could Cause Power Outages Will Be Main Threat From Major Storm System
The main threat from a significant storm on track for the region will be dangerous wind gusts that could cause power outages. The system will move in from the Midwest on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
