: Gloucester Firefighters Free Deer From Fence
Oh, deer. Firefighters in Gloucester County encountered an unusual emergency on Tuesday. Mantua Township police received a call at 5:40 a.m. about a deer stuck between the bars of a fence along Wenonah Avenue near McCarthy Avenue. Crews arrived and were able to spread the iron posts, freeing the rear end of the deer, according to this Facebook video posted by the Mantua Fire Department. 17 Puppies Rescued By Pennsylvania SPCA Over Welfare Concerns
The Pennsylvania SPCA rescued 17 dogs including five unweaned puppies from a Lancaster County property over welfare concerns last week. Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, the PSPCA removed 16 German Shepherd-type dogs and one Siberian Husky from a property on Bell Road home in Christiana last Wednesday, officials said. The PSPCA had previously been to the property in November while assisting the Bureau of Dog Law with a warrant. Christmas Comes Early For Kittens Left For Dead At South Jersey Recycling Center
Finding objects that have been thrown away improperly with recyclables is not out of the norm for recycling workers. But when staffers heard saw movement and heard cries coming from a backpack on a conveyor belt at the Burlington County Recycling Center, they knew this wasn't trash. To their shock and surprise, three small kittens were inside the bag. They had apparently been placed in the backpack and abandoned in a recycling container.
