'Human Remains' Found In Exploded Office At Bird-In-Hand Family Inn: Coroner
"Human remains" have been found at the scene of an explosion at a Lancaster County inn, authorities explained on Monday morning. The call about the fire first came into Lancaster County Wide Communications at 2:33 a.m. on Dec. 18. Emergency crews arrived at Bird-In-Hand Family Inn on 2740 Old Philadelphia Pike and discovered the heavily involved fire through the roof. A retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel has been identified as the kayaker who has been missing since Sunday, according to his brother and Lancaster County officials. Richard E. Lackey, 76, of West Hempfield Township, was found near Circle Drive in Lancaster City, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Eric Bieber.
