A violent thunderstorm that ripped through New Jersey Thursday night, July 3, left three people dead — including a Middlesex woman, a 79-year-old man, and a 25-year-old Plainfield resident — and caused widespread destruction across Union and Somerset counties, officials said.

PA National Guard Veteran Killed In NJ Motorcycle Crash
A 44-year-old Levittown, PA, motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Lawrence Township, NJ Friday morning, June 13, authorities said.
At 6:48 a.m., officers responded to Franklin Corner Road and Princeton Pike for a report of a motorcycle crash and found the operator, Benjamin Boyers, unconscious at the scene, Lawrence Township police said.
Boyers was operating a 2023 Royal Enfield motorcycle eastbound on Franklin Corner Road when he lost control and struck a telephone pole, police said.
