Children Beaten, Groped For Years Lands PA Man Conviction: AG
A Pennsylvania man has been convicted of abusing two children over a period of years, including beating them with belts and household objects and groping them, Attorney General Dave Sunday announced on Thursday, Aug. 27.
Fernando H. Silva, 35, of Lebanon County was found guilty Thursday of all charges following a three-day jury trial, according to the Attorney General's Office.
The abuse happened between 2019 and 2024, when the children were pre-teens during most of the conduct, prosecutors said.

A former local television news anchor whose career included several stations across the country has admitted to a crime that could keep her behind bars for decades.
Angelynn “Angie” Mock, 48, pleaded guilty Friday, Aug. 21, to first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. Mock faces a presumptive life sentence with eligibility for parole after 25 years.
Her sentencing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5.

A suspected impaired driver from Texas slammed into a marked Pennsylvania State Police cruiser in an active construction zone, injuring a trooper, authorities said.

A Long Island man was arrested after his dog was found infested with flies and suffering from open wounds, authorities said.
Cecilio Matthews, 50, of Bellport, was charged with several counts of animal cruelty under state and county laws, the Suffolk County SPCA said Wednesday, Aug. 26.
