Trespasser Struck By Amtrak Train Near Lancaster, Police Say An individual was struck by an Amtrak train near Lancaster while trespassing on the tracks, East Hempfield Township Police said on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Amtrak train 663 was en route from New York City to Harrisburg when the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, near Landisville, Pennsylvania, Amtrak officials said in a statement. PA Man Fatally Struck By Amtrak Train Had History In Mental Health Court Program A Columbia man was killed after being struck by an Amtrak train in West Donegal Township on New Year’s Day, the Lancaster County Coroner announced on Thursday, Jan. 2. Alex Fitzgibbon, 34, a Mount Joy native, died from multiple traumatic injuries after the incident near the tracks on Wednesday, Jan. 1. He was transported to Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:22 p.m., according to the Lancaster County Coroner's Office. Man Struck Dead By Amtrak In Philly, Police Say A man was struck dead by an Amtrak in Philadelphia on Saturday night, Philadelphia Police announced on July 14.  The "John Doe" was struck by the Amtrak along the tracks at Harbison Avenue and Bridge Street in Mayfair at 9:43 p.m. on July 13, PPD detailed in the release.  The striking train, Engine 52, had been heading south, according to the police. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 10:13 p.m. Additional information was unavailable at the time of publishing.
