Girl Scout Dues Hit Historic High: PA Council Says Membership fees or dues to join Girl Scouts have risen to a historic high, Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania announced on Tuesday, Oct. 22.  The decision to raise the dues is not just local, but came as a result of "12 hours of thoughtful deliberation, the national delegates of Girl Scouts, representing councils across the country, including representatives from Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania," GSHPA wrote.  The increase will go into effect in the next membership year.  The membership dues for girls will increase from $25.00 to $45.00 for the membership year 2026 and to $6…

Foster Homes Needed For 30 Animals Seized From Berks County Home Rescue officials are desperate for help after 30 animals were seized from a home in Berks County. The Department of Animal Protection from the Animal Rescue League of Berks County was performing a wellness check when they removed 22 dogs, three cats, five snakes, and two geckos were removed from a home in Womelsdorf on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Vincent "Vince" John Mazzotta, a life member of the Darby Fire Co., died on Sunday, July 28. East Berlin Church Volunteer Killed In Head-On Crash Going Home A 33-year-old was struck dead in a head-on crash "on his way home from volunteering at church," Freedom Valley Church officials wrote in a Facebook post.
