Support is on the rise for a Lehigh Valley police officer whose family home was destroyed in a tragic fire. The officer — a member of the Freemansburg Police Department — lost his family home following a fire in Plainfield Township around 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 12, the local volunteer fire company said. While the family and their pets were able to escape safely, the home was severely damaged and is uninhabitable, the department said. A two-alarm fire tore through three adjacent Lehigh Valley homes, authorities said. The Upper Nazareth Fire Department responded to the blaze in the 2000 block of Lynnwood Drive in Upper Nazareth around 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, the squad said. An initial investigation prompted a second alarm as well as crews from several surrounding departments. Three single-family homes were damaged in the fire, the department said. A pickup truck barreled into the front yard of a Lehigh Valley Home after colliding with another vehicle Tuesday evening, authorities said. The crash occurred at North Broad Street ext. and Beil Avenue in Upper Nazareth, according to the local fire department. The photos show the truck in the home’s front yard and a second vehicle — appearing to be a white SUV — heavily damaged nearby. “Luckily, no one was injured,” said the Upper Nazareth Fire Department. One person was seriously injured after a Jeep veered off the road and landed in a patch of woods in Northampton County Friday morning, authorities said. Upper Nazareth Fire Department members responding to a smoke investigation on the 3000 block of Newburg Road around 7:15 a.m. were met with the mangled Jeep, which had traveled “down an embankment through a section of woods and ended up in a corn field,” the department said. A dump truck driver had to be removed by first responders but was uninjured after crashing head-on into a train on the Upper and Lower Nazareth line Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
