PA Family Killed In I-81 VA U-Haul Crash: Police
Shortly after friends said "drive safe & see you next time" to a Pennsylvania family, they received the news that all four members of the family had died in a crash on Interstate 81 in Virginia.
A beloved grandmother, Douangpee Amnatkeo, 54, of Shippensburg, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox with her relatives Ericssan Kathpratoum, 13, Samiane Kothpratoum, 37, both of Shippensburg; and Monthy Matnopaseuth, 39, of Reading, in the passenger seats, while towing a U-Haul trailer back from the annual Lao New Year Festival at Wat Lao Buddharam in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, authorities said.

NJ Horse Shot To Death In PA, State Police Say
A horse that belongs to a nonprofit organization in New Jersey was found shot to death in Pennsylvania, according to a release by the Pennsylvania State Police on Monday, May 1, 2023.
The horse belonged to Standardbred Retirement Foundation located in Cream Ridge, NJ. It was being housed on McClays Mill Road in Southampton Township near Shippensburg, according to state police.
The shooting happened sometime between said 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, and 12:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, PSP said.

A man who previously was sentenced to probation for public masturbation in Shippensburg, has been convicted and sentenced in connection with the rape and trafficking of children, authorities say.
Kenneth McKinley Grant, 24, of Carlisle, has a lengthy court record in Cumberland County where he was most recently has been found guilty of Sexual Exploitation of Children, Unlawful Contact With a Minor, Corruption of Minors, and Prostitution, according to the district attorney's office and court documents.

NY Passenger Killed In Berks County Crash
A New York woman died after sustaining injuries in a crash in Berks County Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Richard Swartz, 50, of Shippensburg, PA was parked on the shoulder of I-78 westbound in the area of mile marker 8.5 in Bethel Township around 4:50 p.m. when Alan Barton, 41, of Blue Point, NY, struck Swartz's car at an "unsafe speed," according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Barton got out of the car on his own, while his front passenger, KellyAnn Mooney, 40, had to be extracted by emergency responders, police said.
