52 Arrested In 'Elaborate' Cockfighting Ring In South Jersey: Police
More than 50 people were arrested after police broke up a large cockfighting ring in Atlantic County, authorities said. Galloway Township police executed a search warrant at a home on the 300 block of South Bremen Avenue on Saturday, Mar. 9, the department said in a news release. When officers arrived, a large group of people were there and many tried to run away before they were detained. US Marshals have arrested two more suspects in connection with the killing of Philadelphia policeman Richard Mendez. A man in his 40s was struck and killed by a speeding Dodge Charger involved in a street race in Philadelphia, authorities said. Two suspects in the hit-and-run crash were later arrested in Pennsauken, NJ, police in Philadelphia said.
