‘Expect Delays:’ Route 33 Exit To Close For Emergency Bridge Repair, PennDOT Says
An exit on Route 33 north in Northampton County will close for emergency bridge repairs, PennDOT confirmed Friday. The William Penn Highway exit will close for an emergency repair at 7 p.m. and will remain closed for at least 24 hours, Bethlehem Township Police said. All northbound traffic will be diverted off the William Penn Highway exit to the traffic signal. Police are seeking the public’s help identifying three suspects seen stealing more than $2,000 worth of robotic vacuum equipment from a Lehigh Valley area Lowe’s store. The three suspects were caught on surveillance footage stealing more than $2,000 worth of Shark IQ Robot vacuums from the location on Birkland Place in Bethlehem Township around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 15, local police said. Five people were hospitalized before dawn Monday after a utility van crashed into a car attempting to make an illegal u-turn on Route 33 in Northampton County, state police said. The driver of a Hyundai Elantra was exiting the ramp from Rt. 22 eastbound to Rt. 33 southbound and attempted to make an illegal u-turn in the middle of the highway near milepost 3.8 in Bethlehem Township just before 4 a.m., state police said. Police: One Shot In Northampton County, Suspect In Custody
One person was injured and another taken into custody following a Tuesday afternoon shooting in Northampton County, police said. The shooting occurred near the 3100 block of Clifton Avenue in Bethlehem Township just after 2:30 p.m., police said. A suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody following the incident, police said. The entrance to the development remained blocked for emergency personnel and processing as of 3:30 p.m., though there is no danger to anyone in the area, police said.
