14 Puppies Abandoned In Plastic Cage Rescued On Long Island: Police
Fourteen puppies were found abandoned in a plastic cage in an East Rockaway alleyway, prompting a police rescue, authorities announced on Thursday, Feb. 27. Fourth Precinct officers responded to a call about barking dogs near Centre Avenue at 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26, according to Nassau County police. Upon arrival, officers discovered the puppies crammed into the cage and immediately transported them to the Town of Hempstead Animal Control for medical assessment and treatment. The investigation into who left the puppies is ongoing.

Protected Hawk Found Injured On Long Island, Rescued By Officers
On-duty officers from Long Island made a feathered friend when they rescued an injured bird that used to be on the endangered species list. At about 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, Nassau County Police Officers Carlson, Locher, and Gervasio were on the job in East Rockaway when they came across something unusual. Burglar Snatches Wallet, More From Long Island Home, Police Say
A thief took advantage of an open garage door and stole multiple items from a Long Island home, authorities said. It happened in East Rockaway on Sunday, June 23. According to Nassau County Police, the suspect walked into a Waverly Avenue home just after 4 a.m. They went in through an open garage door.
