An elderly New York woman was killed in a house fire alongside her dog on Sunday night, July 12, police said.
Joanne Carelli, 74, of Ellenville, was found dead inside her home after firefighters doused the flames, New York State Police said.
State troopers responded to reports of a house fire on Baker Road in Kerhonkson around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, and the Accord Fire Department beat them there, authorities said.

Five people were arrested across Albany in an ongoing investigation on Friday, July 10, according to police.
Cops searched two residences and found an illegal ghost gun and two high-capacity magazines, the Albany Police Department said.
Two of the suspects were teenagers — one 15-year-old boy and one 14-year-old boy — who were both released after their initial arrests and set to appear in family court at a later date, authorities said.
